Great TV, Would buy again May 16, 2010 Daniel Tworkowski (Buffalo, NY) I purchased this TV about 6 months ago, I could not be happier. I was in debate between a plasma and an lcd tv.
After lots of research and reassurance about burn in, I went with a plasma. I couldnt be happier.
The colors are deep and vibrant, inky plasma blacks. I cannot really comment on the built in speakers as I use it with a home theater system.
The picture quality is fantastic, blows my friends Samsung lcds away (one has a regular lcd one has an led lcd)
My only complaint would be the glare. It isnt horrible but at times can be an annoyance.
Overall would say it is the best bang for your buck, atleast when I purchased it. This is a link for great review and calibration guide

Fantastic Picture April 19, 2010 James E. Needham (Durham, NC USA) When this thing is hooked up to an HD source, it's the best picture I've ever seen on a TV. Really stunning. I did just a little bit of tweaking with the brightness, color, etc. I'm extremely happy with the result. I bought the plasma rather than an LCD because I was more worried about viewing angle than reflections. Neither have been a problem. I'm very happy with this set. My only negative comment would be that the built-in sound leaves a little to be desired, but I think Samsung expects that you'll be hooking it up to your stereo anyway.
Samsung DELIVERS March 28, 2010 Ron (Springfield, OH) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have the Samsung hooked up to a Onkyo surround sound system with DirecTV for the HD reception and a Toshiba HD DVD recorder/player. The TV delivery was set up by Amazon and it was PERFECT. The truck driver help carry it in the house with me.
Once unpacked and put into place, DirecTV sent a technician to do the set up. After about 1 hour, everything was done and I was watching HDTV. I couldn't be happier with the picture or sound. With this being plasma, the sport channels are so clear with no blurriness at all. The hockey games are almost live with even the faces in the crowd clear. I can't say enough about a plasma for sports and action pictures. I know there is already the upgrade to this model, but if you see this one on sale, you MUST BUY IT!! The menus ARE easy to use on screen as well. I'm not sure why other reviewers have said things against the menus, but they are simple and easy to navigate. After having my 36" Toshiba for 12 years, I was hesitant about having a "modern" HDTV and new technology and complications.
There hasn't been anything yet that has given me one problem. I haven't even had to change the settings because of how good they actually come from Samsung. The colors are just about perfect. There are probably better plasmas on the market, but for price I paid, with no shipping and taxes, how can anyone go wrong? All I can say is this: don't be swayed by reviewers that think because they set theirs up wrong from the beginning and are now upset, they write a poor review. The picture and everything I have seen, are better than what I saw at the store.
Samsung PN50B550 50-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV March 28, 2010 Pat Manuel (Iowa) I purchased this Samsung PN50B550 50-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV about 6 months and I love it. I had purchased a Phillips 47" LCD 120hz a few months before and needed another TV for the basement. I like the plasma much better. In high def they both have great pictures but with a standard signal the plasma is much better, clearer sharper, excellent colors and no motion blur.. I find myself going to the downstairs to watch TV when it would be more convenient to watch the LCD. If I was trying to decide between a plasma and an LCD the plasma would win hands down. I also got a super price from Amazon on this TV and the delivery service was excellent.
Great TV, one caveat. March 26, 2010 J. Range (California) At the end of the day, I have no regrets in buying this TV. Build quality, aesthetics, and price were all great. Picture quality is amazing. The one problem is the buzz. It has been mentioned a few times before, but I decided to take the risk. I have a relatively small bedroom and the recommended distance is 15ft, which is impossible considering the orientation of my room. I sit about 9ft away. The buzz is definitely noticeable, but once I start watching a movie or show, I have to listen for it. You just kind of tune it out. Samsung has no fix for this problem and I have heard that the new 2010 models have a similar issue. I generally have to use headphones when watching movies or playing games, so really the noise doesn't affect me 90% of the time, but just knowing it's there bugs me.
But knowing what I know now, I would have purchased the TV anyway.
