What is going on in Japan February 13, 2010 Michael C. Baker 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this set to replace a Sony rear projection LCD. The LCD was giving up the ghost and screen slowly turning all blue from the bottom up. I bought the TV when it first came out and paid almost $2k for it. Well I bought this set to replace it and now find out they have a built in problem and the picture is intentionally lowered black levels over time, for longevity I understand. Mine looks great as I write this but feel like I've been taken advantage of and Panasonic was not transparent with this product, if this is the case. Hopefully they don't walk away from the problem like Sony ALWAYS does, they sell nothing but JUNK and bottom line is all they care about. In light of all the Toyota/Lexus problems one has to ask themselves if the Japanese have also become so profit driven they've lost sight of what made them the quality standard in so many product areas. If Panasonic reps read this I hope you rise to the occasion and make it right with those of us who trusted you like Toyota is attempting to do now. I'll update this as time goes on and pray it ends up a good experience as I'm retired and can not afford additional expense.
*****I'm having the problem this is highly publicized black level/contrast intentionally programmed in these sets.
At this writing I haven't contacted Panasonic, hopefully they make this right...... I'll keep posting and adjust my review accordingly.
TV is DOPE. Recommended highly. February 9, 2010 D. Schweitzer (Dodge City, KS United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Everything as promised. Purchased from sears for 1499. You will not find a better picture in lcd or plasma at any price below 4k.
Buyer Beware!!!! February 5, 2010 A. Rosenberger (Cali) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
After doing much research and finally pulling the trigger and buying Panasonic's V10 plasma model, I was shocked to recently find many widespread reputable reports that black levels on Panasonic 2008 and 2009 model plasmas may double or in some cases triple after approximately 1000 hours of use.
At this point I can only wish I had found this information before I made my purchase, so I'm passing it on to anyone else who may be considering any of these models.
My V10 picture is fantastic at the moment, but I can only wait in fear that I may have spent $2K dollars on something that will lose one of it's best qualities after only months of normal use.

Good Luck!!!!
Absolutely Stunning Picture!!! January 31, 2010 Fred Garvin (Northeast, USA) I did months of research before purchasing this tv. It was the new LED or Plasma, and I've looked at both side by side and the
plasma had a more fluid picture and was truer to life than LCD or LED. The functions are easy enough to navigate, the Viera cast needs different apps or more would be nice, but I'm not concerned about that. I bought the TV to watch it. I have a 32"
LCD upstairs and it is like day and night between the picture quality.
And I also purchased a Panasonic Blu-ray (DMP BD-80) to go along with it and all I have to say is WOW!!! Even with regular dvd's the up conversion is incredible. I did end up doing a break -in for the 1st 200hrs just in case of any burn in issues.
I did watch TV in between but avoided any channels with scrolling bars or logo's in the corner of the screen for too long (15min). After that everything looks great, I game on it and watch movies mostly and the HD channels are amazing even though
most are only 1080i. I've owned it for a month so far and am very satisfied.
I was a little hesitant ordering something like this online, but the delivery was on time and Amazon and Electronics Expo did a great job.
Outstanding TV. Glad I returned the Sony LCD and got this beast January 30, 2010 Denise (KC, MO) We originally purchased a 52" Sony LCD. From the moment I plugged in the tv I knew I had made a huge mistake. The picture was substandard on SD tv much of which we still watch. The picture on HD was improved but not as good as our 6 year old Panasonic CRT. The inability to get past a 'copy protection error' was the final straw. The Sony was going back to the store. When we were looking at TVs the sales people at three different stores referred to this Panasonic plasma as being the Cadillac of televisions and one of the best TVs on the market. We had heard bad things about plasma so we were not in the market for one. But after the LCD experience we thought we would take a second look. We found the TC-P54G10 for [...] at a local superstore and knew immediately we had to jump. Now after a month we are sooo thrilled with the TV. It's easy to set up, easy to adjust and the picture is amazing. It's so clear it's like the people or animals on screen are in your living room. We've watched movies, sports, and standard def tv and everything looks fantastic. The TV coupled with a blue ray DVD is AMAZING.
As far as 'burn in.' I did experience a bit of ghosting after a couple of hours of a local tv stations website was plastered on the side of the screen. I was alarmed and very upset. But upon further research on the internet I learned that ghosting is quite normal during the first 100 hours and that it would go away with more use. It did and I was once again very pleased with my purchase.
I recommend this TV to anyone who is a serious viewer of sports or movies. You will not be sorry. I take that back. You could be sorry that you didn't get a 65" version but since they don't make this model that large you will fine.
